AXIS Spitfire – best all-round beginner to intermediate wing

The original AXIS surf foil – playful, forgiving and easy to pump. A wider speed range and more predictable pitch than the Surge makes it the better choice for riders still building confidence. Multiple sizes available from around €400. Best for: wing foiling progression, light-wind sessions, first surf foil.

AXIS BSC (Broad Spectrum Carve) – best light-wind wing foil

Maximum area, maximum range. The BSC stays airborne in conditions that ground most other wings, and its wide speed range means you can use the same wing from 8 knots to 25 knots. Best for: light-wind wing foiling, heavy riders, unpredictable conditions.

AXIS ART v2 – best high-aspect wing foil wing

High-aspect design with long span and reduced chord for significantly less drag than mid-aspect wings. Noticeably more glide, better upwind and more efficient pumping. Requires good technique to get the most from. Best for: experienced wing foilers, downwind and open-water sessions.

AXIS ART PRO – best race and downwind wing

The pinnacle of the AXIS high-aspect range. Ultra-long span, minimal drag, maximum glide. Used by AXIS team riders in international downwind races. Demands precise footwork and an established pump technique. Best for: advanced downwind, racing, expert pump foiling.

AXIS Fireball – best all-round performance wing

Aluminium masts – from €75

Durable, heavy and affordable. Good for beginners who will be crashing into shallow water and do not want to risk expensive carbon. Limited stiffness means some flex at speed.

Carbon masts – from €350

The standard choice for most AXIS riders. Significantly stiffer and lighter than aluminium, with a direct improvement in control and response. Multiple lengths available. The sweet spot for value and performance.

PRO Ultra High Modulus masts – from €700

Maximum stiffness for performance riding. Noticeably more direct feel than standard carbon, especially at speed. For riders who have outgrown carbon mast flex.

KAIWI UHM Mast – €2,810

The new 2026 specialist mast, optimised for minimum drag with smaller high-aspect wings and riders under 85 kg. Purpose-built for downwind racing and pump foiling. The lowest-drag AXIS mast ever made.

Overall AXIS Foils verdict

What AXIS does better than most: modularity (every component works with every other component), build quality (full carbon throughout the premium range), and range depth (there is an AXIS wing for every discipline and skill level). The 2026 collection is the strongest AXIS has released – the Surge in particular fills a genuine gap in the market.

Where AXIS costs more: entry-level pricing is higher than some competitors. An aluminium mast from €75 helps, but a full beginner setup still represents a significant investment. The modularity argument is the answer – buy once, upgrade incrementally.
